It’s Independence Day Weekend! The MUG has compiled the most comprehensive list of events from Wednesday thru Sunday this first week of July in Missoula and around Western Montana, all right here for you to make your own Weekend PICKS!
Bonus Wednesday! Since it’s not a school night this week, we’re adding Wednesday to the Independence Day Weekend PICKS from The MUG. Hump Day is always packed with Trivia, Karaoke, Comedy nights all over, and this week is no exception.
Live music and local food trucks at Out to Lunch in Downtown Missoula’s Caras Park 11:00 am to 2:00 pm Wednesday, this week featuring Missoula favorite, the Josh Farmer Band.
Independence Day
Kick off Independence Day with live music, food and fun from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm at “An Old-Fashioned 4th at The Fort” at the Historical Museum at Fort Missoula.
Get in a full day with Freedom Fest featuring live music, food trucks, vendors, a farmers market, and dusk fireworks show at Sanders County Fairgrounds in Plains starting at Noon Thursday.
Missoula Downtown Partnership’s Downtown Tonight is happening from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm Thursday at Caras Park featuring local food trucks, vendors and live music this week from Montana’s soulful rock & roll band Warpony.
The Old Post Pub returns with their 4th of July Parking Lot Party in Downtown Missoula, live music by Flash Panda and Morningbird starting at 8:00 pm Thursday.
Celebrate the 4th of July with the City of Hamilton’s Community Fireworks Show at the Ravalli County Fairgrounds starting at dusk, Thursday at 10:20 pm.
First Friday is happening all over Downtown Missoula and Downtown Hamilton.
You can take the kiddos to a grade-schoolers’ performance of “Aladdin” at 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm on Friday at Missoula Children’s Theatre.
Cranky Sam Public House in Downtown Missoula is throwing a July First Friday Party from 5:00 pm to 10:00 with live music by Night Blooming Jasmine, and new art from Breze Schmitz.
Logjam Presents welcomes the SLASH – S.E.R.P.E.N.T. Festival for an evening of hard rockin’ blues at the KettleHouse Amphitheater in Bonner at 7:00 pm Friday with Warren Haynes Band, Samantha Fish and Eric Gales.
Sapphire Lutheran Homes’ Free Summer Concert Series continues with “Heaven Right Now” – a great Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers tribute live outdoor show, from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm Friday in Hamilton.
Western Montana’s farmers markets are in full swing for the season. Missoula alone has five Saturday markets, and with the rest of the area bustling with fresh local markets every day of the week and weekend. Exercise your freedom to be funky with live bands, DJs, food trucks, beverages and more at the Missoula Funk Festival at Silver Park 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Sunday.
On Sunday evening, Logjam Presents welcomes Lucinda Williams for a live concert at The Wilma in Downtown Missoula at 8:00 pm.
There are at least 70 local music shows of one kind or another in the area throughout the weekend – we have options!
No matter what direction you wanna get outta town, you can’t go wrong. Lots of summer Independence Day weekend activities and events are happening not only around Missoula, but all the way up the Flathead and the Bitterroot valleys, east to Phillipsburg and Anaconda, and out west past Alberton. If you’re headed up to Whitefish and Glacier, there are some outstanding pit stops to make along the way.
Get out & enjoy our locally-owned bars & restaurants with Montana grown / made food and beverages – they need your business! Try a new local brew! Support our local artists and vendors at the area farmers markets. Take the family for a summertime hike. Get out on the mountain bike. Catch a classic movie screening or a stand-up comedy night. Stretch that big brain at one of the local trivia nights. Sing your favorite karaoke song, or catch a live music show. Enjoy safely and responsibly.
