Who’s ready for a long relaxing holiday weekend? The relaxing part is up to you – just sayin’. The MUG has compiled the most comprehensive list of events in Missoula and around Western Montana, all right here for you to make your own Memorial Day Weekend PICKS!
Summer Farmers Markets season is in full swing, with more opening up this weekend (Hot Springs, Bigfork). Surf’s up on our local rivers. It’s green and pleasant everywhere. We’ll be dodging a little rain over the next several days – not a lot, and we’re looking forward to it. We’ve tagged Monday on to this week’s selection, and we believe you’ll make the most of it.
There are at least 110 local music shows of one kind or another in the area throughout the weekend… we’ve got options!
No matter what direction you wanna get outta town, you can’t go wrong. Lots of springtime weekend activities and events are happening not only around Missoula, but all the way up the Flathead and the Bitterroot valleys, east to Phillipsburg and Anaconda, and out west past Alberton.
Patios have opened everywhere – get out and enjoy our locally-owned bars & restaurants with Montana grown / made food and beverages. Try a new local brew! Support our local farmers and crafts people at the farmers markets. Take the family for a spring hike, or get the bikes out for a big ride. Catch a classic movie screening or a stand-up comedy night. Stretch that big brain at one of the local trivia nights. Sing your favorite karaoke song, or catch a live music show. Enjoy safely and responsibly.

Andy Gold is an awesome stand-up comedian. He’s appeared on Hulu, Kevin Hart’s Laugh Out Loud network on Sirius XM and Audible’s Punchlines. He’s also recorded two comedy specials for Dry Bar Comedy called Dreamcatcher and Addicted to Comedy.
Andy draws humor from all parts of his life, especially the nearly 10 years he spent in active heroin addiction which has made him a favorite at treatment centers and recovery events across the country. Andy began his comedy career just six months after a (temporally) fatal overdose prompted his family to intervene and convince him to go to treatment. A prolific writer, Gold’s material runs the gamut from sharing colorful jokes about life, dating, jail, rehab, family and recovery and it’s all tied together by one thing and one thing only: really big laughs.

Bigfork Whitewater Festival
Bigfork, Montana
The 48th Annual Bigfork Whitewater Festival will be happening this Memorial Day weekend, May 26-28, 2023 and is benefiting the Montana Kayak Academy!
HUGE cash prizes for men and women’s kayak divisions for overall in slalom, down river, and giant slalom racing. Beginner to intermediate division slalom race. Head-to-head rafting with cash prizes and the paddleboard race in Bigfork Bay is returning for a fifth year!
This is the longest running event in Bigfork and is one that the entire Flathead Valley looks forward to each year. Participants come from around the world to race. Spectators are also a huge part of this festival and come to enjoy the races and other events held in town.
Bigfork, Montana is located on the north end of Flathead Lake, where the Swan River spills into Bigfork Bay. The last mile of the Swan River, known as the “Wild Mile”, is a class IV section of whitewater. It is the perfect whitewater venue with a scenic nature trail paralleling the north side, giving spectators front row seats for some of the best whitewater action in the area. The Wild Mile also flows through downtown Bigfork, which offers an eclectic variety of restaurants, shops and galleries.
