Directed by Tom Opre, The Real Yellowstone is a forthright new documentary that explores the real-life story of Montana’s rural ranching communities. Moving beyond Hollywood dramatizations, the film centers the voices of multigenerational ranchers, outfitters, and conservationists who navigate the shifting landscape of public policy, predator pressures, and real estate development in Central and North‑central Montana . Opre, originally known for documentaries on human rights in Zimbabwe and Highland traditions in Scotland, returns to his roots in Montana to capture an unfiltered, intimate account of those who live closest to the land.
