Valentine’s Weekend PICKS: Thursday, February 13th thru Sunday, February 16th
It’s Valentine’s Day Weekend, what you choose to do, or not do, with that information is up to you. All the don’t-miss choices for your Western Montana fun list are here with The Missoula Underground’s Valentine’s Weekend PICKS!
The annual Big Sky Documentary Film Festival kicks off Friday, with screenings all over Downtown Missoula, and runs thru next Monday, February 23.
Up north, join in on the fun at Cabin Fever Days – Friday, February 14 thru Sunday, February 16, an annual fundraiser for the first-responders of Bad Rock Canyon highlighted by the World Championship Barstool Ski Races on Sugar Hill Saturday in Martin City.
Looking to the east, it’s the 90th Anniversary of Anaconda’s Winter Festival being held all weekend with recreated historical events, and a celebration of frosty fun and community cheer in the heart of Montana’s most charming winter wonderland! Includes a Valentine’s Gala on Thursday, Ice Carving Competition, Ice Skating in Kennedy Commons, downhill skiing and snowboarding at Discovery Ski Area, Cross Country Skiing and Snowshoeing on Anaconda’s scenic trails and new cross country tracks in all their snowy glory at Old Works Golf Course. The “Mr. High, Wide, and Handsome” Men’s Pageant will wrap up the festivities.
Outdoors, it’s cold, but the dedicated and prepared will be rewarded. ALL the local ski resorts are open, with more fresh snow again going into the weekend – powder for days! All are grooming and every place’s lifts are fully open. Lolo Pass Visitors Center and Chief Joseph are fluffy and groomed, and several areas in the Flathead have excellent trails for XC skiing. Rattlesnake and Pattee are being freshly groomed in the canyons for classic XC. MTB Missoula is winter-grooming trails at Marshall Mountain Park for fat bikes, courtesy of Fat Bike Missoula – epic! Pull up and bookmark The MUG’s Western Montana Snow Conditions – all in one place to make your plans.
We have over 60 live music events listed for the weekend – plan your indoor sports accordingly.
No matter what direction you wanna get outta town, you can’t go wrong. Lots of winter activities and Valentine’s events are happening not only around Missoula, but all the way up the Flathead and the Bitterroot valleys, east to Phillipsburg and Anaconda, and out west past Alberton. If you’re headed up to Whitefish and Glacier, there are some outstanding pit stops to make along the way.
Get out & enjoy our locally-owned bars & restaurants with Montana grown / made food and beverages – they need your business! Try a new winter local brew! Support our local artists and vendors at the area seasonal markets. Take the family for a brisk outdoor hike. Get out for some prime skiing. Catch a classic movie screening or a stand-up comedy night. Stretch that big brain at one of the local trivia nights. Sing your favorite karaoke song, or catch a live music show. Enjoy safely and responsibly.
