Are you turkeys ready to wrap up April? Pecking around for fun stuff to do? We’re here to help – all the happenings are here in one place for Western Montana with The Missoula Underground’s Weekend PICKS!
Ski season is over – almost. Lookout Pass has enough snow to throw in this last remaining weekend with lifts open for your last chance at spring skiing and snowboarding on Saturday & Sunday. Get it!
Everything else is decidedly spring-y, and we’re here for it.
The 53rd Annual YMCA Riverbank Run 5k/10k starts Saturday morning at 9:00 am at Higgins & Broadway in Downtown Missoula.
It’s the kickoff off gravel bike racing season with MTCX Montana Gravel Challenge weekend, with three races happening Friday – Saturday – Sunday starting & finishing along Six Mile Road in Huson.
Outdoor sports take center stage with the 28th Annual Forestry Days hosted this weekend by UM’s Woodsman Team at the Historical Museum at Fort Missoula with collegiate competitions 9:00 am to 4:00 pm Friday, and community celebrations and demonstrations Saturday.
And – it’s time to get ready to get on the river soon. Trail Head River Sports in Missoula hosts their River Rally Party & fundraiser with live music from Kyle Hunter and The Mountain Standard 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm Friday and Boat Swap from 12 Noon to 4:00 pm Saturday.

No matter what direction you wanna get outta town, you can’t go wrong. Lots of spring weekend activities and events are happening not only around Missoula, but all the way up the Flathead and the Bitterroot valleys, east to Phillipsburg and Anaconda, and out west past Alberton. If you’re headed up to Whitefish and Glacier, there are some outstanding pit stops to make along the way.
Get out & enjoy our locally-owned bars & restaurants with Montana grown / made food and beverages – they need your business! Try a new local brew! Support our local artists and vendors at the area seasonal markets. Take the family for a brisk outdoor hike. Shake the rust off your bike and legs with an early spring mountain bike ride. Spring fishing is prime. Catch a classic movie screening or a stand-up comedy night. Stretch that big brain at one of the local trivia nights. Sing your favorite karaoke song, or catch a live music show. Enjoy safely and responsibly.
