Weekend PICKS: Thursday, February 8th thru Sunday, February 11th
Don’t plan on getting too much rest this weekend – there’s just too much great stuff to do! Skiing, snowboarding, music shows, and the “Big Game” Sunday…you can nap on Monday. The MUG has compiled the most comprehensive list of events from Thursday thru Sunday in Missoula and around Western Montana, all right here for you to make your own Weekend PICKS!
Skiing? We have fresh snow all around. All of the of the area resorts are open, lifts are spinning, and it’s go-time! Thursday would be a well-chosen day to call in with the sniffles, just sayin’… With our winter season in full swing, The MUG has added a new Snow Conditions page. We have real-time live snow report links for all the Western Montana ski resorts, plus area XC grooming conditions, avalanche forecasts, and even links for fat bike trails – and MDT road reports! Check it out here, and bookmark it on your browser. Keep your tips up, try the red beers, and tip your lifties. We’re here to help.
We’re starting to hit that stretch where it’s way too soon to be thinking about spring. If you’re a true Montanan, you know how to get the most out of every season. That said, the big annual Cabin Fever Days and 45th Annual World Famous Barstool Ski races are happening Saturday up in Martin City and the stretch around Bad Rock Canyon, Hungry Horse, Coram, and West Glacier. There are all kinds of fun activities and nightlife happening all weekend to make it worth the trip.
On Saturday evening, the legendary Led Zeppelin tribute band ZOSO returns to rock your socks off at The Wilma. We’ve seen ’em several times, and they are not to be missed.
Superbowl Sunday will see the Kansas City Chiefs square off against the San Francisco 49ers at the new Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. Even if Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are your only interest in the game, most every bar in Montana will be carrying the live broadcast on the big screens – take your pick and settle in.
There are more than 80 local music shows of one kind or another in the area throughout the weekend… we have options!
Valentine’s Day is coming up on Wednesday. While most restaurants will have specific romantic dinners you can make reservations for, it may be a good move to get ahead & celebrate with an evening out this weekend. Can’t go wrong with that!
No matter what direction you wanna get outta town, you can’t go wrong. Lots of activities and events are happening not only around Missoula, but all the way up the Flathead and the Bitterroot valleys, east to Phillipsburg and Anaconda, and out west past Alberton. If you’re headed up to Whitefish and Glacier, there are some outstanding pit stops to make along the way.
Get out and enjoy our locally-owned bars & restaurants with Montana grown / made food and beverages – they need your business! Try a new local brew! Support our local artists and vendors at the winter markets. Take the family for a brisk winter hike. Go exploring on the fat bike. Catch a classic movie screening or a stand-up comedy night. Stretch that big brain at one of the local trivia nights. Sing your favorite karaoke song, or catch a live music show. Enjoy safely and responsibly.

“Would I rather be feared or loved? Umm… easy, both. I want people to be afraid of how much they love me.” — Michael Scott, The Office
