Caesar: Who is it in the press that calls on me?
I hear a tongue shriller than all the music
Cry “Caesar!” Speak, Caesar is turn’d to hear.
Soothsayer: Beware the ides of March.
Caesar: What man is that?
Brutus: A soothsayer bids you beware the ides of March.
William Shakespeare

THURSDAY, March 11

Thursday, March 11
10:00 am – 12:00 pm
Saunter with a Naturalist in the Morning
Bancroft Pond, 34th St, Missoula, Montana
For March’s saunter we are going to focus on looking for early signs of Spring!
Meet at the southwest corner of the wetland. Street parking available on 34th Street.
Bring your curiosity and your own naturalist knowledge and join MNHC Naturalist Ser Anderson on a naturalist saunter. We will focus on exploring the changing seasons, making observations, following our curiosity, and learning from each other. Whether you are an experienced naturalist or just starting out, this walk is for you. Everyone has something to learn and knowledge to share.
Bancroft Pond is a vibrant place, especially in the Spring, and the small size of this neighborhood wetland will encourage us to slow down and notice the smallest details.
We may shorten the walk in response to inclement weather, but inclement weather can produce its own interesting observations so the walks will not be canceled unless it is a question of safety.
What to bring:
Mask (we will practice social distancing and wear masks when together)
Bring your favorite naturalist tools: binoculars, magnifying glasses, field guides, journals, etc.. We will have some binoculars, magnifying glasses and collection containers available to borrow as well.
COST: $5 MNHC members, $10 non-members.

The Giggle Box at Southgate Mall
2901 Brooks St, Missoula, Montana
Livestream Link: https://bit.ly/3vgnfcQ
Emzee & Silas-a memorable force, they will take you on a journey. Strong, dynamic, smoky vocals and thoughtful, moving original lyrics from Emzee (Maria Zepeda) paired with smooth, transcendent guitar leads from Silas Smith soothe the mind and move the heart. The two gather diverse influence from icons such as Janis Joplin, Grace Potter, Sharon Jones, Sylvan Esso, Annie Lennox, Stevie Nicks and SZA to Johnny Cash, Leon Bridges, QUEEN, Joe Walsh, Neil Young, Kendrick Lamar and Willie Nelson. Through their years listening, appreciating and creating music- their sound walks through the likes of indie, blues, psychedelic-folk, neo-soul, country, classical, rock and pop. Years in the making, ”Through Seasons of Sorrow” is a collection of stories about loss and grief, taming the beast that is depression, finding and losing love, adventures to find ones purpose, embracing truth and radical self acceptance. With a handful of musicians to accompany Emzee & Silas, the album gives a spectrum of selection from ballads of revolution and songs of mourning and upbeat anthems of self love and starting over.

Run for the Luck of It! – Saturday morning in Missoula
Saturday, March 13
8:30 am
Run for the Luck of It!
Bonner Park / Bonner, Montana
Run Wild Missoula
Register here
Kick off St. Patrick’s Day with Run Wild Missoula and Run for the Luck of It!
This year, there will be an in-person 7 Mile option and a virtual 5K option.
This race takes place in Missoula, MT. In March. What does that mean to runners? It means you never know what kind of weather we’re going to have or what the weather will decide to drop on the streets as it passes through (i.e., snow sleet, rain, etc.). Be prepared for potentially slippery surfaces, potholes (watch for puddles!), uneven surfaces, and loose sand and gravel!
To participate in the in-person 7 Mile Run for the Luck of It you must read and follow the guidelines and protocols. These protocols have been established to keep our runners, staff, volunteers, partners, and community safe by preventing the spread of the COVID-19 virus. These protocols have been developed in coordination with the Missoula City County Health Department.
For the safety of all participants, staff, and volunteers, if you do not comply with these guidelines, you will be asked the leave the event and will be removed from any results listing.
During this time of COVID-19, there are inherent risks involved in participating in in-person races and events. While we are taking reasonable precautions, based on state and local guidelines, to provide a safe environment, we cannot guarantee the safety of all involved. If you are concerned about your personal safety, we would suggest that you forego the in-person 7 Mile race and instead consider the virtual 5K option.
If you choose to participate in the virtual 5K event, we ask that you choose a route that does not conflict with the 7-mile route taking place on Saturday, March 13th.
FACE COVERING (MASK) POLICY
If you are not running or walking the 7 Mile course, it is required that you wear a face covering while at the event.
This includes:
Pre-race in the corral
Once you have crossed the finish line
During any interaction with race staff or volunteers
Wearing a face covering is not required while completing the 7 mile course.
NO SPECTATORS
Spectators are not allowed at this event.
WAVE START
Runners will be released onto the course in pairs every 5 seconds.
The first 100 participants will be released between 8:30 and 8:34 AM
The second 100 participants will be released between 8:40 and 8:44 AM
During registration, you will submit your predicted finish time to determine when you will start your race.
Please do not arrive at the race venue until 15 minutes before your assigned start time (8:30 AM or 8:40 AM).
Participants must check-in to the marshaling box 2 to 6 minutes prior to their assigned wave.
If you miss the start of your assigned wave, you will not be able to participate in the event. No exceptions.

March 13, 2020, was the date of the first recorded case of COVID-19 in Montana. It’s been a whole freaking year of the pandemic, you guys. And because we’ve grown pretty tired of this strain of coronavirus and the upheaval it brought upon the world, we’ve decided to celebrate its birthday!
Michael Beers — an award-winning stand-up comedian and activist — headlines, and he’ll be joined by seven other top local comedians, all sharing their own perspectives on everything from life and love to the pandemic. And local musician and friend to the comedy scene Nate Biehl will provide music before and after the comedy sets.
Our chosen non-profit for the month is the Free Verse Writing Project, an organization dedicated to bringing creative writing and literature classes to juvenile halls across Montana. Proceeds from the show will be shared between our lovely home, the ZACC, and Free Verse.
The rest of the line-up:
Sarah Aswell
Ian St Onge
Jackie Rapetti
Duane Raider
Becky Margolis
Kyle McAfee
Nicholas Hyde
Katherine Hoisbine
Revival Comedy presents a Pandemic Birthday Special is the 25th performance in our series — ‘Social Distance Sessions’ — a live-stream production partnership between the ZACC and Missoula’s Community Media Resource (MCAT). Shows will be streamed to the ZACC’s Facebook and YouTube, and to MCAT’s cable channel and Local Live website. Home audience members are asked to donate to the show’s Givebutter ‘virtual tip jar’ if able (use Venmo, Paypal, or a credit/debit card).
