KBGA College Radio and the Zootown Arts Community Center (ZACC) have teamed up to bring you ‘Play It Forward‘, a livestream music series and podcast program curated to unite and uplift community artists and organizations in Missoula. Every month we’ll partner with a different organization and host a local music livestream (from the ZACC Show Room), with proceeds going to that month’s organization. Play it Forward is generously sponsored by Rockin Rudy’s.
March’s Play It Forward features the soft and queer folk pop magic of Red Clover, and the clever and whimsical indie rock of Cry Baby. Red Clover and Cry Baby will be playing in support of Missoula Project Beacon (a grant funded program under All Nations Health Center), which provides services to Indigenous survivors of human trafficking through culturally relevant care, case management, peer support, technical assistance, and community outreach.
KBGA will also take this opportunity to provide the public with information on the Missoula Human Trafficking Task Force, which educates people on the warning signs of human trafficking.
In conjunction with the livestream each month, KBGA will run a podcast program on-air featuring interviews with the folks behind the organizations and the artists themselves. More details to come on March’s podcast and their air dates.

Red Onion Purple began as a musical duo featuring Sean Burress (guitar) and Bethany Joyce (cello) in 2013. After a few years of experimenting with their sound and adding different members, the group coalesced into the spellbinding force that it is today with the addition of Joshua Chai (drums) and Cole Grant (bass). The ethos of the band is one of constant experimentation; treating each song as a separate world to traverse, going a little deeper with each iteration. Red Onion Purple‘s sound is accessible, yet hard to pin down; at times upbeat and whimsical, other times melancholy and mysterious. They play a mixture of original songs, jazz standards, and covers. Their first full length album will be available in 2021. Red Onion Purple is the twenty-seventh performance in our series — ‘Social Distance Sessions‘ — a live-stream production partnership between the ZACC and Missoula’s Community Media Resource (MCAT). Shows will be streamed to the ZACC’s Facebook and YouTube, and to MCAT’s cable channel and Local Live website. Home audience members are asked to donate to the show’s Givebutter ‘virtual tip jar’ if able (use Venmo, Paypal, or a credit/debit card).

Montana based singer-songwriter Luke Dowler formed the band in early 2021 with Kelly Garber (keys), Ron Reeves (bass), and Jeremy Reinbolt (drums).
