Have you seen the weather forecast for next week? Join us in denial while we soak up the nice weather this weekend! The MUG has compiled the most comprehensive list of mid-October events in Missoula and around Western Montana, all right here for you to make your own Weekend PICKS!
Fall Festivals are all around, with one to benefit the Missoula Cancer Community organization Saturday – and a bunch of great local food trucks – at the Fairgrounds. Turner Farms is on the 2nd weekend of their annual Pumpkin Festival.
And it seems like we’re getting a one week head start on Halloween festivities. in a big way, happening all over including Haunted Missoula Squares at The ZACC on Friday, and MCT’s performances of “Young Frankenstein” all weekend. On Saturday night, there’s a “Night of the Skating Dead” Roller Derby Triple Header at the Ravalli County Fairgrounds. The Daly Mansion is hosting a Murder Mystery Dinner each Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening. The annual Goth Ball is happening Saturday night at the Zootown Arts Community Center in Downtown Missoula. Sunday is the fun Spooky Skate at Glacier Ice Rink at the Missoula Fairgrounds. And of course, the big Field of Screams MT Haunt is happening all weekend in Victor!
Shopping & dining specials will be all around Downtown Missoula starting at 4:00 pm Thursday for Downtown Nite Out. Take the opportunity to meet the Artists of the Bitterroot, many of whom will have their studios open for visits Friday and Saturday. The annual Missoula Health & Wellness Fair will be at the UM University Center Ballroom 10:00 am to 4:00 pm Saturday.
Summer Farmers Markets season is winding down, with many of the area markets hitting their final weekend dates including the Higgins Lot Alternative Market (Saturday); the rest are on their next-to-last weekends – go stock up with all the fall produce while you can.
The Amp is closed for the season, but Logjam has shows happening nearly every night this weekend with The Lil Smokies at The Wilma on Thursday and free live shows at the Top Hat on Friday and Saturday; Martin Sexton plays the Top Hat on Sunday evening.
There are over 90 local music shows of one kind or another in the area throughout the weekend… we have options!
No matter what direction you wanna get outta town, you can’t go wrong. Lots of early fall weekend activities and events are happening not only around Missoula, but all the way up the Flathead and the Bitterroot valleys, east to Phillipsburg and Anaconda, and out west past Alberton. If you’re headed up to Glacier, there are some outstanding pit stops to make along the way.
Get out and enjoy our locally-owned bars & restaurants with Montana grown / made food and beverages – they need your business! Try a new local brew! Support our local farmers and crafts people at the farmers markets. Take the family for a crisp autumn hike, or get the bikes out for a cool fall colors ride. Catch a classic movie screening or a stand-up comedy night. Stretch that big brain at one of the local trivia nights. Sing your favorite karaoke song, or catch a live music show. Enjoy safely and responsibly.
