Apparently, all our whining about the heat worked – we’re in for a perfectly pleasant weekend ahead!
The MUG has compiled the most comprehensive list of events in Missoula and around Western Montana, all right here for you to make your own Weekend PICKS!
The Western Montana Fair runs all weekend at the Missoula Fairgrounds, with free live music nightly, and culminating with the Legends of Dirt flat track motorcycle races Sunday.
Thursday night, the legendary Richard Thompson plays The Wilma (with our local pals Wolf and The Moons opening). At Downtown Tonight in Caras Park, Chris Pumphrey & Friends are playing a tribute to CSNY + Joni Mitchell that’ll be a must-see as well.
Friday & Saturday, Jaden Decker returns from a national tour for his new album, and performance at Seeley’s Tamaracks Resort with his Band of Angels. Polson’s Brewfest is happening Saturday, as is the first Ravalli County Music Festival at the Fairgrounds – and the 50th anniversary of Hip Hop music is being celebrated with a block party all day Saturday on Missoula’s Hip Strip.
The river season is well underway, and with highs in the 80s through Sunday, it’ll be a good time to get out for a local float. Flows are getting slow, be safe and smart if you’re getting out on our local rivers. Don’t go solo – buddy up. Summer Farmers Markets season is in full swing, with all the area markets open.
There are nearly 100 local music shows of one kind or another in the area throughout the weekend… we have options!
No matter what direction you wanna get outta town, you can’t go wrong. Lots of summertime weekend activities and events are happening not only around Missoula, but all the way up the Flathead and the Bitterroot valleys, east to Phillipsburg and Anaconda, and out west past Alberton. If you’re headed up to Glacier, there are some outstanding pit stops to make along the way. Road trip!
It’s prime patio season – get out and enjoy our locally-owned bars & restaurants with Montana grown / made food and beverages on a sunny day. Try a new local brew! Support our local farmers and crafts people at the farmers markets. Take the family for a morning summer hike, or get the bikes out for a cool early (or late) ride. Catch a classic movie screening or a stand-up comedy night. Stretch that big brain at one of the local trivia nights. Sing your favorite karaoke song, or catch a live music show. Enjoy safely and responsibly.
