Welcome to “Second Summer” – as if we hadn’t already had enough 100 degree heat, we get to enjoy more this week. Fortunately, it’ll ease up considerably through the weekend, and we’ll be able to venture back out in more pleasant weather – we’re here to help. The MUG has compiled the most comprehensive list of events in Missoula and around Western Montana, all right here for you to make your own Weekend PICKS!
The river season is well underway, and with highs in the 80s through Sunday, it’ll be a good time to get out for a local float. Flows are getting slow, be safe and smart if you’re getting out on our local rivers. Don’t go solo – buddy up. Summer Farmers Markets season is in full swing, with all the area markets open.
It’ll be a big weekend out at the KettleHouse Amphitheater in Bonner with sold-out Friday and Saturday shows with Nathaniel Ratcliffe and The Night Sweats. That guy could play here for a week with sold out shows. Saturday and Sunday, the Bitterroot Celtic Games & Gathering are happening at Daly Mansion in Hamilton. The Flathead Reggae Festival will be jammin’ Saturday at the Montana Tap House in Whitefish. Also Saturday – Totfest! at Missoula’s Dark Horse Bar. Sunday will see the Montana Fiddlers’ Jamboree at Evaro Bar.
There are nearly 100 local music shows of one kind or another in the area throughout the weekend… we have options!
No matter what direction you wanna get outta town, you can’t go wrong. Lots of summertime weekend activities and events are happening not only around Missoula, but all the way up the Flathead and the Bitterroot valleys, east to Phillipsburg and Anaconda, and out west past Alberton. If you’re headed up to Glacier, there are some outstanding pit stops to make along the way. Road trip!
It’s prime patio season – get out and enjoy our locally-owned bars & restaurants with Montana grown / made food and beverages on a sunny day. Try a new local brew! Support our local farmers and crafts people at the farmers markets. Take the family for a morning summer hike, or get the bikes out for a cool early (or late) ride. Catch a classic movie screening or a stand-up comedy night. Stretch that big brain at one of the local trivia nights. Sing your favorite karaoke song, or catch a live music show. Enjoy safely and responsibly.
