Our roots are showing! River City Roots, that is. This is one of the biggest music weekends of the year, and Missoula’s River City Roots Festival leads the way on Friday and Saturday. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. The MUG has compiled the most comprehensive list of events in Missoula and around Western Montana, all right here for you to make your own Weekend PICKS!
Some of the other big happenings include the (sold out) Flaming Lips show Friday at KettleHouse Amphitheater…tickets are still available for dynamic violinist Lindsey Stirling performing Saturday at the KettleHouse Amphitheater…The Daly Mansion Car Show is Saturday in Hamilton…and the big annual Flathead River Rodeo runs Thursday thru Saturday in Polson.
The river season is well underway, and with highs reaching around 90 through Sunday, it’ll be a good time to get out for a local float. Flows have come up a little after this week’s rains; be safe and smart if you’re getting out on our local rivers. Don’t go solo – buddy up. Summer Farmers Markets season is in full swing, with all the area markets open.
There are nearly 100 local music shows of one kind or another in the area throughout the weekend… we have options!
No matter what direction you wanna get outta town, you can’t go wrong. Lots of summertime weekend activities and events are happening not only around Missoula, but all the way up the Flathead and the Bitterroot valleys, east to Phillipsburg and Anaconda, and out west past Alberton. If you’re headed up to Glacier, there are some outstanding pit stops to make along the way. Road trip!
It’s prime patio season – get out and enjoy our locally-owned bars & restaurants with Montana grown / made food and beverages on a sunny day. Try a new local brew! Support our local farmers and crafts people at the farmers markets. Take the family for a morning summer hike, or get the bikes out for a cool early (or late) ride. Catch a classic movie screening or a stand-up comedy night. Stretch that big brain at one of the local trivia nights. Sing your favorite karaoke song, or catch a live music show. Enjoy safely and responsibly.
