Weekend PICKS: Thursday, June 23rd thru Sunday, June 26th
Helloooo, summer! After a perfectly Pacific Northwestern spring, we’re all about ready for blue skies and warmer weather. This weekend, we’re certainly going to know summer is here.
The MUG has compiled the most comprehensive list of events in Missoula and around Western Montana, all right here for you to make your own Weekend PICKS.
Some of the major happenings include The Missoula Marathon (all weekend); the big Bitterroot 50 Mile Garage Sale; Third Eye Blind with an already sold-out show at the KettleHouse Ampitheater; Western Heritage Days in Stevensville; and more. Way more.
June is just simply a fantastic time to be outdoors here. Whatever you do, it’ll be spectacular out there. Pay attention to the high running rivers and waters, be aware of your surroundings.
We’re counting nearly 100 music shows of one kind or another in the area. We’ve got options. Seek out the outdoor and rooftop music under the stars.
Farmers markets season is well underway in Western Montana. You’ll find ’em here, and for a complete list of nearly three dozen in the area, check out our Western Montana Farmers Markets story posted recently on The MUG.
No matter what direction you wanna get outta town, you can’t go wrong. Activities and events are happening not only around Missoula, but all the way up the Flathead and the Bitterroot valleys, east to Phillipsburg and Anaconda, and out west past Alberton.
Get out and enjoy our locally-owned bars & restaurants with Montana grown / made food and beverages. Support our local farmers and crafts people. Catch a classic movie screening or a stand-up comedy night. Stretch that big brain at one of the local trivia nights. Sing your favorite karaoke song, or catch a live music show. Enjoy safely and responsibly.
Please confirm event details at the source before you go. Last minute changes are common, especially due to weather. With each event listing, we try to include a web page or event link with more information you can check for changes.

TNR / Thursday Night MTB Ride Missoula
University Beacon Trail
Missoula, Montana
This week we’ll start at the top of Pattee Canyon and spin up the road to the University Beacon. Then we’ll ride out over University Mountain and plunge down to the Sentinel Saddle. From the saddle there is an option for a bonus climb up to the Sentinel Summit, before heading down the Gut to Crazy Canyon, and closing the loop on the lower Sam Braxton trail. Meet at the parking lot at the top of Pattee Canyon.
The final drop off the ridge is very steep with loose dirt and usually turns into a controlled slide. Just riding up to the Beacon, and possibly out the ridge to the top of University, and returning on the road is a good option for anyone that does not want to descend the ridge line.

What you hear in his playing is the real time synthesis of information, chiefly melodic and harmonic, and the rigorous subtlety of his response. He pairs uncannily mature instincts with the open-minded spark of youth.” -Nate Chinen, The New York Times

Honey Bandit with Hillside 77
Great Northern Bar
27 Central Ave, Whitefish, Montana
$5 at the door
Honey Bandit is an original 4 piece groove rock band from the Flathead Valley featuring Sarah on vocals & guitar, Vinnie on drums, CJ on guitar, & Ash on bass! Seattle based rock band Hillside 77 gets the party started at 9:30.
Honey Bandit was formed during the Spring of 2021 in a cedar grove in Northwest Montana. After meeting at a brewery job, guitar man CJ and drummer Vinnie recruited their two friends, Ash on bass, and Sarah on vocals/guitar, to fill out the sound they were developing. Like most bands, they hate labels- but some have called it psych rock, while some say it’s reminiscent of the 90’s – even touching on surf rock. Regardless, all of their varied influences come out when they bring their high energy to the stage.
