Weekend PICKS: Thursday, March 3rd thru Sunday, March 6th
Whoa, March already?!
Get ready! We’ve compiled the most comprehensive list of this weekend’s events in Missoula and around Western Montana, all right here for you to make your own Weekend PICKS.
We’re counting something like 80 live music shows of one kind or another in the area. We challenge you to find another part of the country with such a high level of local music to choose from.
The winter markets on Saturdays are still there to get your local craft shopping fix handled. Tons of trivia to flex that big brain of yours.
The annual Big Sky Film Festival wraps up over the weekend. You can find some fantastic film and cinema showings, and a selection of movies to keep you coming back, or binge-streaming from home.
While the weather’s been trying to decide whether it’s spring or still winter, it’s a mixed bag for snow conditions – some icy, some mostly groomed, some fresh snow. Check the links here for current conditions at Snowbowl, Lost Trail, Whitefish, Blacktail and Discovery. There are still some good conditions for XC around Missoula & Western Montana. FatBike Missoula has been grooming tracks at Twin Creeks. Bitterroot Backcountry Cyclists are reporting good fat biking on the trails around Lake Como and other areas in great shape, too. Good rule: don’t ride if you’ll be leaving big ruts, whether it’s snowy or muddy.
No matter what direction you wanna get outta town, you can’t go wrong. Activities and events are happening not only around Missoula, but all the way up the Flathead and the Bitterroot valleys, and Phillipsburg.
Get out and enjoy our locally-owned bars & restaurants with Montana grown / made food and beverages. Catch a classic movie screening or a stand-up comedy night. Sing your favorite karaoke song, or catch a live show. Enjoy safely and responsibly.
Please confirm event details at the source before you go. Last minute changes are common, especially due to weather. With each event listing, we try to include a web page or event link with more information you can check for changes.
Do you have a Western Montana event you would like to have included on The MUG? Click HERE to submit your event!

Honey Bandit with Way Down North
Great Northern Bar
27 Central Avenue, Whitefish, Montana
$5 at the door.
Honey Bandit was formed during the Spring of 2021 in a cedar grove in Northwest Montana. After meeting at a brewery job, guitar man CJ and drummer Vinnie recruited their two friends, Ash on bass, and Sarah on vocals/guitar, to fill out the sound they were developing.
Like most bands, they hate labels but some have called it psych-rock, while some say it’s reminiscent of the 90s – even touching on surf rock. Regardless, all of their varied influences come out when they bring their high energy to the stage.
Way Down North is a duo from Northwest Montana performing Americana originals and covers. Tina Bertram and Cory Chopp combine to bring a mixture of four different instruments and vocals to their sets.
