Weekend PICKS: Thursday, May 29th thru Sunday, June 1st
We’re wrapping up May in a rather warm way – temps in the 80s and kissing 90 Saturday! And then it’ll cool into the low 70s to start June on Sunday…it’s so Montana. There’s so much live music, outdoor events, and cool stuff to do, and we’re here to help. All the fun happenings around Western Montana are here with The MUG’s Weekend PICKS!
Logjam Presents welcomes The Black Keys on their No Rain, No Flowers Tour with Hermanos Gutierrez at the KettleHouse Amphitheater in Bonner at 8:00 pm Thursday.

If you’re fluent in Bow-wow-wow-yippee-yo-yippee-yay, you’ll want to spend a little time at the 2025 Five Valley Kennel Club AKC All Breed Dog Show and Trials taking over the Missoula Fairgrounds all weekend, running 8:00 am to 5:00 pm from Thursday, May 29 thru Sunday, June 1.
The farmers’ market season is well underway, including Columbia Falls and Ronan on Thursday, Polson and Saint Ignatius on Friday, and all the ones in Downtown Missoula, Hamilton, Kalispell, Stevensville, Arlee, and Hot Springs on Saturday morning. Be sure to make it to the Epic Outdoor Summer Kickoff with Marshall Madness 11:00 am to 4:00 pm at Missoula’s Marshall Mountain Park. There’ll be live music, food trucks, raffles, free skills clinics and all sorts of trail hiking and mountain biking to do on the new & improved trails – and a perfect opportunity to explore all the great work that’s been put in up there recently by the Missoula Mountain Bike Coalition, Five Valleys Land Trust, and Run Wild Missoula.
The MUG’s Western Montana Summer Farmers Markets guide is ready to help – save the link and get around to all of ’em over the next several months.
We’ve seen the Glacier Park road crews have cleared Going to the Sun Road up to Logan Pass. It looks like the road is available for cycling most if not all the way to the top! Check the conditions before you go – but it looks good to go.
We have around 60 live music events listed for the weekend – take your pick! It’s officially patio season now. You can’t go wrong with seeking out any and all of the fantastic area rooftop bars and outdoor patios to soak in this fantastic spring Montana weather.
No matter what direction you wanna get outta town, you can’t go wrong. Lots of spring weekend activities and events are happening not only around Missoula, but all the way up the Flathead and the Bitterroot valleys, east to Phillipsburg and Anaconda, and out west past Alberton. If you’re headed up to Whitefish and Glacier, there are some outstanding pit stops to make along the way.
Get out & enjoy our locally-owned bars & restaurants with Montana grown / made food and beverages – they need your business! Try a new local brew! Support our local artists and vendors at the area markets. Take the family for a brisk outdoor hike – the wildflowers are blooming in prime time. Conditions everywhere are perfect just about everywhere for mountain bike riding. Spring fishing is rockin’. Catch a classic movie screening or a stand-up comedy night. Stretch that big brain at one of the local trivia nights. Sing your favorite karaoke song, or catch a live music show. Enjoy safely and responsibly.

“You build on failure. You use it as a stepping stone. Close the door on the past. You don’t try to forget the mistakes, but you don’t dwell on it. You don’t let it have any of your energy, or any of your time, or any of your space.”
– Johnny Cash
