Weekend PICKS: Thursday, September 7th thru Sunday, September 10th
Isn’t this the best time of the year in Montana? The MUG has compiled the most comprehensive list of events in Missoula and around Western Montana, all right here for you to make your own Weekend PICKS!
On Thursday, the Pixies play a sold-out show with Modest Mouse and Cat Power at the KettleHouse Amphitheater. Bonnie Raitt is a national treasure, and a few thousand lucky fans will see her sold-out show Friday night – also at the KettleHouse Amphitheater.
Summer Farmers Markets season is in full swing, with most of the area markets hitting their final stretch.
This is the last week for the market in Anaconda (Thursday); go stock up with all the seasonal produce while you can.
Take in the 6th Annual Montana Professional Artists Association’s Art Show & Sale at the Missoula Fairgrounds running Friday through Sunday.
You can take your best set of wheels to some big car cruises happening Saturday at the Bitterroot Rod Run (starting at KT’s Hayloft), or the Glacier Street Rod Association annual Fall Cruise & Poker Run at the Kalispell Dairy Queen Grill & Chill. Draught Works is hosting a cool “Mini Kei” show for mini pickups & vehicles Saturday afternoon. For two-wheel enthusiasts, there’s the River Edge Show & Shine: A Fundraiser for the Alberton Booster Club + Bikers Against Bullies at River Edge Resort and Steakhouse Sunday afternoon.
KettleHouse Brewing is celebrating their 28th Anniversary with an all-day Saturday party at the Bonner Tap House, including live music and karaoke. The Ravalli County Courthouse is hosting an afternoon of Cowboy Music & Poetry on Saturday. The Flathead’s rockabilly hero Justin Harris plays his first time at Draught Works in Missoula on Saturday night. The extraordinary Dan Dubuque can be found performing musical miracles on his Weissenborn slide guitar Saturday at Cranky Sam Public House. Wolf and The Moons are performing at the MUD (Missoula Urban Demonstration Project) Garden Party Saturday night.
MAMA (The Montana Area Music Association) has this year’s Miles of Music event happening all day Sunday with local musicians playing al fresco around the UM Campus, and then TWO music stages on The Oval into Saturday evening.
There are over 90 local music shows of one kind or another in the area throughout the weekend… we have options!
No matter what direction you wanna get outta town, you can’t go wrong. Lots of summertime weekend activities and events are happening not only around Missoula, but all the way up the Flathead and the Bitterroot valleys, east to Phillipsburg and Anaconda, and out west past Alberton. If you’re headed up to Glacier, there are some outstanding pit stops to make along the way. Road trip!
It’s prime patio season – get out and enjoy our locally-owned bars & restaurants with Montana grown / made food and beverages on a sunny day. Try a new local brew! Support our local farmers and crafts people at the farmers markets. Take the family for a late summer hike, or get the bikes out for a cool early (or late) ride. Catch a classic movie screening or a stand-up comedy night. Stretch that big brain at one of the local trivia nights. Sing your favorite karaoke song, or catch a live music show. Enjoy safely and responsibly.
